Getting Started with Keto: Days 1-5
I planned my start very carefully. I spent at least a month doing research and shopping. I was lucky to find a 5-day period where I only had to work in the office 1 day, worked from home 2 days, and the last 2 days were the weekend.
Day 1: I was excited to start keto. This day wasn't very difficult, probably because I still had tons of glycogen stored at this point. I pounded water and electrolytes like crazy all day.
Day 2: I woke up too early...like 2 hours earlier than usual. I had pretty good energy, went to work and to a class in the evening.
Day 3: I woke up too early, to an awful headache. My energy was dragging. I was struggling to make myself drink water and take electrolytes.
Day 4: I slept very poorly, and awoke to soreness all over. My legs hurt, my back hurt, everything hurt. I took a hot bath in the morning and had a massage in the afternoon. I started to be less hungry.
Day 5: I took melatonin and slept late! Felt significantly better than prior day. Soreness is gone. Definitely less hungry than before. Trying to remember to eat meals. Pre-keto I ate 3 meals and 3 snacks per day, but with all this fat, I don't think I will still be eating that frequently.
